Tianhong Mu

Mu“I was born in a poor family in China. When I was young, my dad spent all of his money onmy mom’s medical treatment, but my mom still passed away when I was 11 years old. My dad was a truck driver for a provincial institute of metallurgy and had a low income. With my uncle’s financial support, I completed middle school, high school and undergraduate studies in China. When I was admitted to SIU, I received a teaching assistantship. My tuition was waived, and I earned stipends through student work. This financial assistance was very important to me. It was the only way that I could complete my studies, because my family was unable to support my education. Now I have a job. I have income, so I decided to support SIU in return. I hope this gift helps other deserving students to receive a quality education.”
