Michael Ellis is a native of Murphysboro, Ill., and an alumnus of SIUC's journalism program.  He began his duties as Director of Development for SIUC's College of Applied Sciences and Arts in June of 2003.  During a 31- year career in politics, marketing and journalism, Michael advised President Gerald Ford and several Illinois governors in the area of media and communications.  He has written, produced and directed numerous videos and multi-image presentations for an extensive list of clients, including:  the Illinois Department of Agriculture, the Illinois Department of Central Management Services, the Illinois State Board of Ethics, the Illinois Coal Producers Association, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the LPGA State Farm Classic Golf Tournament. From 1993, until his return to Carbondale, Michael had most recently served as Director of Communications and Development for a Springfield area not for profit organization.
