Rickey N. McCurry has served as Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement at SIUC since July, 2000. In his role as Vice Chancellor he oversees the activities of the SIU Foundation, the SIU Alumni Association, Constituent Relations and Special Events, and Advancement Services.
VC McCurry came to SIUC from the position, Associate Vice Chancellor of Development and Alumni Affairs, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN (UTK), where he served since 1993. In addition to his Associate VC role at UTK, for the period August, 1995 to October, 1998, he served as Campaign Director for the highly successful $175 million Knoxville phase of UT’s 21st Century Campaign. Also, he served as acting Vice Chancellor from June, 1997 to September, 1998.
McCurry spent another nine years in various development positions at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN; The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA; Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, PA; and Lane College, Jackson, TN, for a total of 20 years in fund-raising.
VC McCurry earned his juris doctorate degree at North Carolina Central University School of Law, Durham, NC, and he is licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee. Prior to law school he graduated summa cum laude from Lane College, Jackson, TN, with a bachelor of arts degree in history and a minor in English. Rickey resides in Carbondale with his wife, Sandra, and children, Eric and Chelsea. Son, Neal, is currently a student at Purdue University. |
